The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office page identifies the sheriff as operator of the county jail and keeper of the jail docket. It does not provide a working roster, searchable docket, booking page, recent-release archive, or 24-hour release feed. Its links labeled Inmates, Jail, and Approved Agent Bonding List return to the same sheriff landing page. As of the research review on July 26, 2026, there is no public list to browse and no official release field to filter.
This absence changes the first step. Call the combined Sheriff’s Office and Monroe County Detention Facility line at 662-369-2468 and ask whether staff can confirm a release date and time or identify the records custodian. A written request can be mailed or delivered to 700 N. Meridian St., P.O. Box 683, Aberdeen, MS 39730. Ask for an existing jail-docket extract covering the stated period. The agency is not necessarily required to create a custom list that it does not already maintain.
Check Monroe 24-Hour Releases
A same-day query works best when it defines the range before contacting the jail. Monroe County is in the Central Time Zone. “Last 24 hours” means a rolling period counted back from a specific moment, while “yesterday” means one calendar day. These ranges can produce different results around midnight. State both endpoints and ask which timestamp the jail docket records.
- Write the Central Time start and end timestamps. Say whether the range is rolling or tied to a calendar date.
- Contact the Monroe County Detention Facility and ask for any existing report or docket extract listing releases processed in that range.
- Request the person’s name, booking number, release date and time, release type, and receiving agency when the event was a transfer.
- Ask whether the date means order received, release processed, physical exit, or later data entry.
- Confirm a bond, dismissal, sentence, or transfer with the proper court or receiving custodian.
A written date-window request can ask for any existing report or jail-docket extract that lists releases processed between the two timestamps. It can specify the name, booking number, release date and time, release type, and receiving agency for a transfer. If no such report exists, ask whether individual entries are available by name and date. That wording matters because public-record access reaches an existing agency record but does not always compel staff to create a new database output. Monroe County has not published a local request form or fixed fee, so ask for a cost estimate before chargeable work and retain the response.

Note: A narrow time range and booking identifier can reduce false matches between people who share the same name.

Monroe County has not published the schema of its internal jail docket. The fields below are therefore items to request, not a claim that every field exists in the local system. A useful response should distinguish the act that ended custody at the county jail from the legal authority behind it. It should also show whether another agency took custody.

Do not collapse all outcomes into “released.” Bond or time served can mean the person returned to the community. Transfer to MDOC ends the Monroe County jail stay but does not end confinement. A medical move, court transport, or move to another jail may also be recorded without a community release.

The county’s navigation creates a real data quirk. Several labels suggest that a roster or jail page exists, yet each route returns to the sheriff landing page. Because there is no online population list, a missing name cannot show that someone left custody. There is also no online retention period, removal rule, or update cadence to interpret.
The sheriff-maintained jail docket is the correct county source. Ask how far its entries extend and whether older records are held on paper, microfilm, in an archive, or in a vendor system. If the office reports no record, request a description of the name, identifier, and dates searched. A no-record response does not prove that no booking occurred.
Note: Any future roster should be checked for its as-of time, refresh pattern, event definitions, and retention before relying on it.
Confirm Monroe Same-Day Releases
County jail, court, notification, and state corrections channels serve different roles. Use the jail docket first for a Monroe County Detention Facility release. Then use the court that handled the charge. Circuit Court handles felonies, while Justice Court handles county misdemeanors, traffic cases, bond proceedings, and many preliminary matters. A municipal charge may stay in a city court.

The Monroe County Justice Court page confirms its role in misdemeanors, traffic matters, bond hearings, and felony preliminary hearings. A court order can explain why release was authorized. It may not show when the person physically left the jail, so keep both records.

Monroe County participation for one booking must be checked in the live VINE interface or with MS SAVIN because the statewide program depends on data from participating county booking systems. A missing match can reflect spelling, delayed data, transfer, retention, or nonparticipation. It is not proof that the person was released during the requested day.
Travel After Monroe Release
No official Monroe County jail transportation policy was found. Do not assume that a person leaving the county facility receives a ride, ticket, or route assistance. Call the jail about a specific pickup, property, or transportation question. If someone else will meet the released person, confirm the process and location with facility staff rather than relying on a projected court time.
MDOC has a different policy for state-prison releases. Its release FAQ says a case manager verifies travel plans and may obtain a bus ticket to the destination or nearest city when requested, but MDOC does not purchase out-of-state tickets. That state practice does not apply by default to Monroe County Detention Facility releases. The legal custodian must be identified before using either set of instructions.
Monroe Release App Limits
Monroe County has official sheriff apps for iOS and Android, but their store descriptions refer to tips, news, and public-safety communication. They do not verify an inmate list, release feed, booking photo, or release-alert function. The apps should not be presented as a same-day release source until someone checks the menus on a device, records the visible window, and compares an entry with an agency record.

Monroe Release Versus Transfer
A Monroe County release entry must be read by event type. A person who bonded out, received recognizance, completed time, or left under a dismissal or probation order may have returned to the community. Someone transferred to MDOC, another county, federal custody, or ICE remains in custody. Search the receiving agency and preserve the Monroe booking number or other identifier.
MS SAVIN/VINE may report release, transfer, return to custody, or another event for a participating record. A notice reflects what the contributing agency reported. It does not prove freedom from all custodians. MDOC’s statewide search is useful after a state commitment, even when its location field temporarily says MONROE CJ.
